New stash.

I took a picture of some of the stash I have been getting recently. I have also gotten some NN threads but some of them are on back order (but I got an e-mail today saying that they are on their way to me) so I will post a picture once all of them are here.

Recent stash.

From Vikky Clayton – AMAP Victoria’s Quaker with silks, ladybug and bee pins, random silks and a cute sheep button.
From 123stitch – Piecemakers needles (5 cards with size 26 and 5 cards with size 28), LHN’s ‘Garden Pleasures’ with the CC and GAST floss. Also the CC floss for LHN’s Curly Q Ewe that I got the chart for the other day.
From Sew and So – HIH’s ‘Blue Bird Sampler’ and ‘Redbird Sampler’ and ‘Buzzzz’.

I started stitching on Lady Scarlett that Rósa gave to me for my birthday on Sunday night and I am going to continue stitching her tonight. I have also been thinking about Christmas presents for this year.

On Thursday I am having a craft night at my office. We did this last year before Christmas and had an open craft night once a week in the meeting room at work. People would just bring whatever they wanted to, or even just write their Christmas cards. It was a lot of fun and I decided to start them again this year. I just hope someone will show up! LOL! If not, then I at least have a lot of peace and quiet to stitch by myself! LOL!

Book meme

I was tagged by Sonja

1: Hardcover or paperback, and why?
Both. Some are just meant to be hardcovers. But I have a lot more of paperbacks because they are cheaper and more convenient.

2: If I were to own a book shop, I would call it…
Linda’s Stitching and Reading Place. It would be a mix between a book shop and a stitching shop with a big sitting area for reading and/or stitching.

3: My favourite quote from a book (mention the title)
I don’t remember any quotes.

4: The author (alive or deceased) I would love to have lunch with would be…
Haruki Murakami

5:If I was going to a deserted island and could bring only one book, except for the SAS survival guide, it would be…
Only one? Hmmmm. Probably Lord Of The Rings, all the stories in one big book.

6: I would love someone to invent a bookish gadget that…
Would allow me to read and stitch at the same time. I don’t like audio books unless I have read the book first. Then I can listen to it, otherweise I keep getting side tracked.

7: The smell of an old book reminds me of…
My grandfather.

8: If I could be the lead character in a book (mention the title) it would be…
Snæfríður Íslandssól – Íslandsklukkan.

9: The most overestimated book of all times is…
The DaVinci Code probably. I haven’t read it myself, and have no will to do so.

10: I hate it when a book…
Doesn’t live upto my expectations. I also do not like to finish good books and I often cry at the end of a book, even if the end is a happy one.

I am going to tag Judy, Ágústa, Hafrún and Lili.

Two pinkeeps.

I stitched these last year but was never sure how to finish them. Today I decided to make them into Pinkeeps. I am very happy with the outcome and they are now displayed on top of my cabinet that holds all my stash.

And this is the fabric I used for the back:

I added the fun little bee pins to the top that I got from Vikky Clayton the other day. Oh, that reminds me, I still haven’t posted a picture of the stash I have been getting lately. I have one more order coming in, probably tomorrow, and I will post a picture after I have that so I can show you all 🙂

This has been a great weekend. Stitching, finishing, concerts, great food, good movie (I watched ‘Deliver Us From Evil‘ last night), well behaved kids and lots of rest 🙂 I hope your weekend was great also!

In My Garden Needle Roll – Happy Dance.

I just finished the needle roll I have been working out. It is such a pretty design and the colors are amazing. I love the kits from Shepherd’s Bush, I learn new speciality stitches every time 🙂 I have a couple of more of these kits and can’t wait to do the rest. You can click on the images for a larger view 🙂

I am having a very lazy Sunday morning. Karítas is watching cartoons and I am stitching, folding laundry and reading blogs. I am going to take a nap with her after lunch and then maybe go and visit my parents later.

Saturday again.

Somehow, this week just flew by me. I was busy with work and lots of other fun things. The most fun was that I got a haircut (I love getting my hair done) on Wednesday and went to a new place that I had never been to before and I think that I have found THE place to get my hair done at. I am very happy with my new cut and I am even more happy to have all the dye cut out finally. So now I am wearing my own hair color and I really like it.

There is a music festival going on in Reykjavík now called Iceland Airwaves. I love this festival and have gone to see at least some of it for many years except in 2005 when Karítas was just a new born. I went on Thursday and saw an amazing show featuring some of my friends and I had such a wonderful time. The concerts were amazing and my favorite was probably Sam Amidon. The arrangements of his songs, done by Nico Muhly were absolutely beautiful and it felt like I was listening to fairy tales. Beautiful!

I haven’t done much stitching lately, but I have been working on Shepherd’s Bush In My Garden Needle Roll and am getting very close to having it done. I will hopefully finish it up today or this evening.

I have a question of the week once a week for my Icelandic stitching group and this week I asked about scissors and if the stitchers have any favorite ones. Below is a picture of my scissor collection as of today. My favorite ones are probably the red ones I got from Tessa in the Freebie Exchange over at SBEBB and the orange ones that my friend Aiste gave to me. The large ones with the black handles are used for cutting fabric only and are very good for that use. The cutest ones are the tiny black ones. They are just so adorable and I love their shape!

My scissor collection as of October 20th 2007

Sumarrós thanks you all for your comments on her sewing. She says that she is going to keep learning new things and also make more of those animals in the future. She hasn’t decided on her next project, but told me that she was playing around with the idea of making an elephant 🙂
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with lots of stitching!

My daughters stitching.

Not cross stitch though. But she has made these two adorable creatures out of felt. The Duck is called Bella and the Monkey is called Panda. She finished the Duck a while ago but the Monkey was finished last night when my stitching friends Guðbjörg and Rósa came over for a little stitching night. Sumarrós got to stay up and stitch with us for a while and decided to finish up this monkey. I think they are adorable and she is so proud of them.

We have had a pretty low key weekend. I finished a project that will remain a secret for a couple of more weeks. I am thrilled with the outcome and can’t wait to show it to ‘the stitching world’  🙂
We went down town today and fed the ducks on the pond and went to Kolaportið a flea market where you can buy anything and everything. I love that place. Sumarrós is feeling well after her surgery and is almost 100%. She has to skip gym at school this week also but otherweise she is good to go 🙂

I know Sumarrós would really appreciate comments on her stitching. She was so excited when I told her that I would post pictures on my blog for the whole world to see 🙂 I hope you all had a great weekend!

Blogging blah.

I haven’t been in the blogging mood lately. Mostly because life has been busy. I have been trying to read blogs and have kept up with them ok, but not been commenting much, sorry about that.

My older daughter Sumarrós had a small surgery last Wednesday. A hernia was fixed in her groin area and she is doing very well. The surgery only took about 20 minutes or so and she woke up just like she had been taking a nap so everything went as well as possible. We go back to the doctor tomorrow to have her stitches removed. She still takes small steps and has difficulty  bending down and walking up stairs, but that should be resolved once the stitches are out. It is amazing how well and fast these kids heal 🙂

Karítas is finally over her bad cold and cough. I am so glad. She was all better last week and went back to play school and was very happy to be back. Off course I went back to work also and off course I had piles of work to catch up on but they are done now. We are hitting another busy season so I am not sure how much I will be blogging or stitching in the next couple of weeks or so. I am sure I will stitch a little when I get home just to unwind. I have to finish up a little secret and some other little secrets as soon as possible and then it is time for Christmas gifts stitching 🙂 I have a stitching night on Thursday with my stitching group and that should be lovely as always. And on that note, I am off to put the girls to bed and get a little stitching done before it is time to go to bed.
