Scissor fob to match!

The sheep on my mattress pincushion thought that they needed another sheep, so I decided to make a little scissor fob to match and make it a little set of smalls. The scissor fob is very basic, but I think it is very cute and goes well with the mattress pincushion 🙂

And I added this cute sheep button to the back that I bought from Vikki Clayton some months ago and never knew what I was going to use it for. I think it looks adorable!

Floss toss!

I need your help. I have ordered the amazing new chart from Little House Needleworks called Little House Neighborhood. I just love it, I can’t wait to stitch it. I plan on stitching it as charted, but I might make some minor changes with the floss. Swap out a DMC for a pretty hand dyed one for one of the houses, or for the leaves on the trees etc.

Little House Neighborhood

Today I pulled out some fabric that I have on hand and that I think I would like to use for this project. The thing is, I like them all and can’t pick one out! So that’s where you come in. What do you think would look best?

Nr.1 – 36ct Raw Linen

Fabric #1 for Little House Neighborhood

Nr.2 – 32ct unmarked Belfast from my stash. The color is silve/gray, very pretty.

Fabric #2 for Little House Neighborhood

Nr.3 -32ct Light Mocha Belfast

Fabric #3 for Little House Neighborhood

Nr.4 – 36ct Linen ‘Days Gone By’ from Silkweavers

Fabric #4 for Little House Neighborhood

I think my favorites as of now are the ones #1 and #4 but honestly, I like them all and I am very confused as to what to pick! So, HELP! Please tell me what you think would look best.

Little House Needleworks – Smalls SAL

In the LHN/CCN yahoo group we have very fun SAL projects every six weeks or so. For this period we are having a Small’s SAL. You take a portion of whatever LHN/CCN design you like, and stitch it. I decided to finish mine up as a small mattress pincushion. I love it. It is so cute and tiny!

Mattress Pincushion

Pattern: Wool needlebook and scissor fob by Little House Needleworks
Threads: DMC
Fabric: 36ct ‘Vintage Pear’ from Lakeside Linens
Finished as a: Mattress Pincushion

I started this one yesterday and finished it up this morning. Later today (in about an hour) we are going to be celebrating Sumarrós’s birthday (she turned 9 years old on June 14th, why is my baby so big?) for her friends at school. We are celebrating at her fathers house as he has a big garden and we are having a barbeque with hot dogs and then some ice cream.

Tonight we are going to an outdoors concert with Björk, Sigur Rós and Ólöf Arnalds. It is free and is a nature awareness show. Fantastic artists and a good cause, no way I will miss it!

Great Weekend in Copenhagen.

This last weekend I spent in the lovely capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, with my co-workers. The seven women working with me in the financial department at work decided to get away for a while to load our batteries for the busy season this summer. We left very early on Saturday morning and landed in CPH at about noon. Checked into our hotel and left our luggage at our rooms. We then walked to a coffee house close to Stroget, the main shopping street, and had a small lunch since we were all hungry after the flight (I slept the whole time thankfully). I had delicious soup with chicken, curry, apples and other yummy things. We then all split up (there is no way to keep 7 shopping thirsty women together in a place like that!) and decided to meet back up at 5pm. I headed straight for H&M like a true Icelander (we don’t have H&M here) and while I was there my friend Ási called me (he just moved to CPH) and decided to come and meet me there. I did some shopping for me but I was not happy with the kids department since I didn’t find a single thing that I wanted to buy for my girls. They don’t really *need* anything, it just would have been fun to find a little something there for them. Most of what I got was on sale (50-70% off) so I got a lot of nice things for little money. Me and Ási walked around, bought some cherries and sat down to eat them and chat a little. He had to work at 5pm so I went back and met the girls. We went to the hotel and got ready for dinner.
We had amazing Japanese food at Custom House. 6 courses and some red and white wine to go with it. We were so full after eating and it was so incredibly good! After dinner everyone went back to the hotel but me, I went to meet up with Ási and my other friend Hjalli who also lives in CPH. We went to a bar and drank beer, talked, danced and had a great time! I hadn’t seen Hjalli in 2 years so it was wonderful to see him again! I walked back to the hotel at about 5am and was voted the party animal of the trip! LOL!

We checked out of our hotel at noon on Sunday and since our flight home was at 11pm we had a lot of hours to spend walking around. We had a little more beer, did a little more shopping, sat at Nyhavn and laughed and looked at the pretty danish men. I joked about having found the man of my dreams. He was our waiter at a place we had lunch at and he was just oh so gorgeous! I wanted to take him home with me! LOL! We had late dinner at the airport and a pleasant flight home. I was back home in my apartment at about 2am and went to bed soon after that and had to be at work between 8 and 9am. I was so tired at work yesterday and today! The weekend was awesome though. I have only been to CPH once before and I am sure I will be going there as soon as I can, I just love the city (not just because of the beautiful men!). I didn’t bring my camera with me, but a co-worker had hers so I will share pictures when she e-mails them to us. I will share with you a picture that I took out in the garden today while playing with my girls. I am wearing my HUGE sunglasses that I bought in CPH. I love them!

My foot is so much better! I stopped limping on Sunday (I think all the walking actually did me a lot of good) but I am still bruised. There are some movements that are still pretty painful, but nothing like how I used to feel! Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes, they obviously worked!

I bought my girls some cool bubble blower thingys and they just love them! We went out in the garden when we got home today and they blew thousands of bubbles with their thingys. There are some pictures here that I took today.

Sumarrós and Kartas

Yesterday I got the new LHN charts ‘The Rain Fell’ and ‘Embroidery Guild’ in the mail with the CC threads and fabric.

New stash!

I can’t wait to start ‘The Rain Fell’. I think it is probably my favorite LHN design so far! I am doing the smalls sal in my LHN group but I haven’t started my piece yet. I have decided what to stitch, and how to finish it, I just need to pull my threads out and find a suitable fabric and stuff 🙂

I hope your weekend was wonderful! I am trying, slowly, to catch up on my blog reading! I am always reading, even if I don’t comment much. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving comments, I love each one of them!

Tagged, foot, WIP update.

Thanks everyone for the good and healing thoughts about my foot. It is getting a little better, slowly but surely. I really wish I could just sit down and stitch until it felt better, but as it is, I have to work full time and then take care of a house and my two daughters when my workday is over. That’s life 🙂 I have been taking it easy with the chores (it is not like they are going anywhere anyway!) and doing as little as possible around the house, but that is just the way it has to be for now. My daughters are really understanding though, and are bringing me whatever I ask them and being very careful around my foot. The swelling has gone down quite a bit, but my foot is quite colorful these days. It is bruised all the way through, that is, I can see a bruise under my foot also, and everywhere between my toes etc. It is really weird! I keep my foot wrapped during the day, so it is a little wrinkled 🙂

Foot day 4

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I started Ladybugs & Bumblebees by CCN and here is a pic. The colors are off, but I couldn’t be bothered to fix it at the moment. Next picture will be better, I promise 🙂

Ladybugs & Bumblebees

And Miss Mary Mack got a little attention last night. I miscounted and had to frog a whole bunch. Man do I hate frogging when I am stitching one over one!

Miss Mary Mack

And finally, I got tagged by Monique!

Where I was 10 years ago:
10 years ago I wasn’t at a very good place I must say. I was 20 and a bit confused about my life and what I wanted from it. I did a lot of partying and stupid things. I got pregnant with my older daughter and thankfully I wised up and turned my life around.

Five things on my to-do list for today: Work, dinner, get kids to bed, fold laundry, stitch.

Snack foods I like:
Doritos with hot dip. Some nuts. Fruits and veggies. Popcorn.

If I were a billionaire, I’d: Oh I don’t know. I would try to do as much good as possible with the money. Travel a lot too. I would like to visit all of my blogging friends. Or better yet, invite you all to come over for a visit 🙂

Places I’ve lived: Here, that’s it 🙂 I have lived in Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Reykjavík, but that is basically saying that you have lived in the separate ends of one city. And a tiny city at that.

People I want to know more about:
Anyone who would like to answer this 🙂

Well. I better get dinner started. I am just going to have some easy snacks, bread, fruits and yogurt. Minimal cooking for me!

Foot update.

Just came back home from the ER since I was getting really restless from pain at work. And yup, it is broken. The little bone on the top of the leg that comes down from my little toe is broken. It has a big crack in it  that is about 2-3cm long. I do not have a cast or anything, the doctor said that it wasn’t that bad but I just have to be careful not to hit it into anything since the bones haven’t shifted or anything like that. And I can walk, so not all is bad. Thanks for the well thoughts. I am at my parents house and they are helping me with the girls as long as my foot is as painful as it is now.

Pretty good weekend, that ended not so great.

I had a pretty good weekend. On Friday after work, I drove with my friends Aiste and her husband Þorri to Þorri’s family’s country house in Fljótshlíð. The weather was wonderful and as soon as we got there we started up the grill and flew a kite. I haven’t flown a kite since I was a kid so it was great!

Me, flying a kite

Old chicken house

We then made wonderful BBQ dinner and ate. Me and Aiste stitched a bit that night and then we all went to bed. I woke up to the morning sun and the song of birds at about 5am but soon fell back to sleep. The day after I took some walks around and took a bunch of pictures that you can find here. It is such a beautiful place and when we were getting ready to drive home at about 2pm I just didn’t want to leave.

I am hoping that they will invite me back there someday!

On Saturday night I went out dancing. Somehow, the genious that I am, stepped on my foot wrong and it is pretty swollen and badly bruised. I can walk, but I limp all over the place and I can’t say that it feels good. Actually it feels horrible and I am hoping that it will feel a whole lot better (the optimistic that I am) tomorrow since my girls come home after their weekend at their fathers. So I am crossing my fingers that I will feel better by then. At least a little bit since I have to grocery shop and stuff since I couldn’t do it today :-/

Next time I will have some stitching photos to share, it is just too dark to take a decent picture right now. I started a new WIP, ‘Ladybugs and Bumblebees’ by Country Cottage Needleworks and I am loving it!

I hope you all had a great weekend, and that your feet are feeling better than mine! LOL!

Night & Day finished.

I started this project on Friday and put the final stitches in it last night. It was super fast and fun. I will admit that I am now completely hooked on Little House Needleworks. Completely I say!

Night & Day by LHN
Fabric: 28ct Sugar Maple Fabrics called Angel Dreams
Threads: DMC
Translated to Nótt og Dagur (icelandic)

As you can see I made some changes to the pattern. First I translated the text to Icelandic, and since the letters don’t add up to the English ones, I had to change it around a bit. I am happy with the results 🙂 Now I need to figure out what to finish it into. Any ideas?

Pinkeep For Brenda.

Not much going on, but can I say TGIF! I am so happy that the weekend is here. This week just seemed to drag on forever, for no particular reason. I did finish the pinkeep for Brenda that I talked about in my previous post. I couldn’t sleep the night before last, and decided to put my insomnia to good use and finish it up since I only had a couple of stitches left and then the finishing. I am pretty happy with it, and hope Brenda will like it also.

RAOK, WIP, School show etc.

First of all. I got the most wonderful package in the mail yesterday from Paula. She sent me a needleroll pattern from my wish list, Forget Me Not Needle Roll – The Sweetheart Tree, and the recommended fabric for it (32ct China White Royal Crown Linen, gorgeous) and another Needle Roll kit from Silkweavers called ‘Summer Days Needle Roll’ with the fabric, threads, beads and button for it! How generous and sweet! I have e-mailed you Paula, not sure if you got my e-mail or not since I haven’t gotten a reply yet. I am very grateful, you are so sweet!

RAOK from Paula

I have started ‘Miss Mary Mack’ but haven’t gotten a lot done as I have been feeling tired and have been trying to go to bed early-ish lately. I am also working on a pinkeep for my friend Brenda, and some other things that will remain secrets for a little while. But here is a pic of MMM.

Miss Mary Mack

I am stitching her on 32ct Belfast in Willow Green with Needlepoint silk, one over one. I love how she is turning out.

Today when I got outside with my daughters, Sumarrós pointed out this cute ladybug that was on the wall just outside our door. Since I had my camera with me (I was going to a school show at Sumarrós’s school later) I took pictures of it. I have only seen a ladybug once before here in Iceland.

I took a bunch of pictures at the school show today. Here are some that are favorites. Images are clickable for a larger view.
