Ever since I got the new Lopi knitting book, I have been lusting after wool and more time to knit. It is funny how something as new patterns, both in knitting and stitching, can spark your desire to make stuff again.
One of the first things that jumped at me in the book (apart from Ben’s sweater) was this beautiful sweater presented in both purple colours and red colours. Purple is a great colour for my little blonde Karítas, and I loved the pattern, and she needed a warm sweater for winter so it all fell into place. Last night I put the zipper in and did the finishing touches on it. It was supposed to have a buttoned up front, but zippers are much easier for small fingers.
Pattern: 4 Knúpur from Lopi #29
Yarn: Unspun lopi from Ístex – single strand
Needles: 3 1/2 and 4 1/2
The unspun wool from Ístex is so great to work with! I highly recommend it! And the colours are amazing! There are some free knitting patterns on the site too.
Karítas is very happy with her new sweater and wore it proudly this morning to play school. My older one, Sumarrós, is sick in bed though so I am at home today playing nurse. Might get some stitching/knitting in while she sleeps even.
Today my little baby girl is 4 years old. It is amazing how fast time goes by. It seems like only yesterday that I was holding a newborn in my arms.
On Saturday we celebrated her 4 year old birthday, but her big day is today, September 14th.
Happy Birthday Karítas Árný. I love you with all my heart.
I actually finished something! I can hardly believe it!
In an attempt to get my stitching mojo back sometime this summer, I decided to place a small order of new things that might interest me and get me stitching again. Well, one of them is started, and another one I just did the finishing touches on about 15 minutes ago.
I am going to try my very best to start updating here regularly. I miss you all so much and I miss blogging, stitching, taking pictures, doing finishing work etc. So I am going to try to update at least once a week. If the stitching mojo comes back full time, I am sure I will update more frequently!
Anyway, on to the pictures of my finish!
Pattern: Small Token, Blackbird Designs – by Barb Adams
Fabric: 32ct Clay Belfast
Threads: Crescent Colours Wild Berries, Milady’s Teal, Ye Olde Gold, Secondhand Rose and Pea Pod.
The backing fabric and the lace are from my stash. I also just used Polyfill for the stuffing since I had it. The lace is some of what I got at the antique store earlier this year. I love how it turned out! Everything just seemed to click!
Well, I better get going. I am having dinner at my parents house. Then tomorrow my younger daughter Karítas is coming back home after traveling for two weeks with her dad. I can not wait to hug and kiss her again! I have missed her so much!
