A Sweater for Karítas

Ever since I got the new Lopi knitting book, I have been lusting after wool and more time to knit. It is funny how something as new patterns, both in knitting and stitching, can spark your desire to make stuff again.
One of the first things that jumped at me in the book (apart from Ben’s sweater) was this beautiful sweater presented in both purple colours and red colours. Purple is a great colour for my little blonde Karítas, and I loved the pattern, and she needed a warm sweater for winter so it all fell into place. Last night I put the zipper in and did the finishing touches on it. It was supposed to have a buttoned up front, but zippers are much easier for small fingers.

Pattern: 4 Knúpur from Lopi #29
Yarn: Unspun lopi from Ístex – single strand
Needles: 3 1/2 and 4 1/2

The unspun wool from Ístex is so great to work with! I highly recommend it! And the colours are amazing! There are some free knitting patterns on the site too.

Karítas is very happy with her new sweater and wore it proudly this morning to play school. My older one, Sumarrós, is sick in bed though so I am at home today playing nurse. Might get some stitching/knitting in while she sleeps even.

  10. Beautiful sweater–I love the little touches of green. Green and purple are one of my favorite color combinations. Hope your daughter recovers soon!

  11. You forgot to mention how brave and talented you are to knit with single strand lopi. I tear my yarn about every three feet.

I really like the look of the fabric with the single strand. It’s not so heavy. Maybe I’ll try that.

    Are you on Ravelry?

  12. Looks like Karitas loves her new jumper too!
Purple definitely looks lovely with that blonde hair🙂
