18 Var – For Emily

The sweater, lopapeysa, jumper, whatever you want to call it, for Emily, Ben’s sister is ready. I took it to work yesterday and had a co-worker model it for me so that I could take pictures in daylight. And since daylight is only between about 11-16 these days, I have to improvise.

Design: 18 Var – from Lopi 29, by Védís Jónsdóttir
Yarn: Létt Lopi by Ístex, 0051, 9423, 1405
Needles, 3,5mm and 4,5mm circular

Knitted as a gift for Emily.
Modeled by Berglind.
Here is the project on Ravelry.

I got some yarn that I bought of Etsy this week, along with a package stuffed full of delicious yarns from Rani who was de-stashing and was sweet enough to send me some of her yarns. Thanks again! I will post pictures, probably this weekend because of before mentioned problem with lack of daylight.

Bring-it-on baby blanket FINISHED!

This was a very enjoyable and easy and fast knit. Did it on and off in about a week and just finished washing it about an hour ago. It is now drying on a towel and looking mighty fine 🙂 It is a gift for my friends baby, Aimee and Johnny who came here for a visit in June this year. They are expecting their first child (a girl, I call her Linda hahaha!) in February and off course I had to make something for the little one!

I am very happy with the outcome and can not wait for them to get it. I will mail it off tomorrow, all the way to New York City!

I have various other projects going on. One of them is this scarf that is probably for myself. I say probably because I often start projects for myself, and then end up giving them away to someone. I am sure you have all been there. But I adore the colors in this one! So much fun!

Alda

My Icelandic knitting group is having a KAL that starts tomorrow. We are doing Elisabeth Zimmerman’s Baby Surprise Jacket and I am going to knit mine for my little nephew that was born on December 23rd. I am going to use this yarn that I bought while in England. I can not wait to start it, the KAL starts tomorrow!

Some Christmas gifts

I made a lot of Christmas gifts this year. Knitted and other. Here are some of them.

Recipe book for my grandfather
A notebook for my grandfather and his wife

I have been trying to knit down on my list of orders. I am making a wool sweater for my daughter Sumarrós. I have yarn and a pattern picked out for another sweater for my cousin Bjarki. I am knitting a surprise thing for my friends Aimee and Johnny’s baby who is due in February. And I have yarn for a dress that Claire asked me to make for her sister. So I am busy busy and some things are still secret, like the baby thing I am making so there are no pictures of that at this point. But it is knitting up fast so I will share pictures as soon as I have mailed it and it has been received in New York.

And then I have a gazillion and fifty thousand ideas of other things I want to knit, stitch, crochet, make. Sometimes it feels like my brain is going to explode!
