Finished Stripe Study Shawl.

Yes! It is finished. I love how this one turned out. And if you are in the mood for some brainless knitting, this is the perfect project. It is super simple and just perfect while watching your favorite TV show or movie or whatever. I knitted it while watching the 3 seasons of True Blood 🙂 I washed and blocked it last night and asked my friend Lilja to model it for me today so I shot some pictures of her wearing it in the sun. Yes, the sun! It has been soooooo cold, but today it finally feels like summer. Anyway, here are some shots.

Today we celebrated Sumarrós’s 12 year old birthday. Her birthday is on Tuesday. I can not believe that my first born is already 12. Where did the time go and why didn’t anybody warn me? Seriously! We had a good day with our family and friends and tomorrow the ones that did not make it today are coming over for some cakes and coffee. You can see a bunch of photos on my flickr acccount.

And. Here is a photo that was taken last weekend of the Lobster Summer celebration. This is a part of my Womens Society, outside Kaffibarinn. It was a great day and everything was perfect. The food, the friends, the decorations. You can also see more photos from that day on my flickr account along with more snaps from other celebrations and daily life as of late 🙂

Stripe Study and Socks

I started this shawl two days ago and am already over the halfway mark. It is going super fast while I watch True Blood. I am almost finished with Season 2 so no spoilers please. I got into it pretty late, but have watched the first two seasons over the past week or so.
I love the simple design of this shawl, and decided to make it with very fine weight yarn as I wanted to be light as air. I like how it is turning out and can’t wait to block it.

I am also knitting these socks. They are not going as fast, but I do knit a little on them from time to time. Last night I finished the heel and started the gusset. These are my first “complicated” socks and I love how they are turning out. Am absolutely in love with the yarn! My friend Ágústa dyed it for me. I also have a skein in red that is just sitting around patiently to get used on another pretty pair of socks. They sure are addicting to knit!

Oh, I also got a new camera. I am absolutely thrilled with it. I got the Canon G12 and have been playing around with it a bit over the past couple of weeks. I am very happy with my Canon 400D, but this one is so much easier for carrying around as the 400D is so big. I still use it a lot, but this new G12 is my carry around camera these days, along with my new Diana Mini that I absolutely adore as well.

Graystone

I finished Brownstone by Jared Flood and gave it to my good friend Oddur last night when we met at our usual hangout, Kaffibarinn. I was there for a meeting since next Saturday is a celebration day there called Humar-Sumar (would translate as Lobster Summer) when we serve lobster, shrimps and other food, and off course some beer for friends and steady customers and passers by. It happens every year and is always just wonderful. It is the bar’s way of giving a little back to it’s faithful friends. Since I am in the Women Society of the place (they also have a men’s choir and a men’s society) we had a meeting about the planning of next Saturday’s clothes theme, make up theme, decorations etc. And Oddur stopped by to pick up his new sweater. He was super happy with it, and so was I. It fits him really well.

Today was the last day of school for Sumarrós. Summer is coming, even though it does not feel much like summer yet. Karítas is finishing play-school and starting school this fall.  These kids grow up way to fast! We have some plans for summer, but most of it is unplanned as of yet. We are probably going to Denmark for some time and are very excited about that. Ok, back to work! Busy day today as it is pay day!
