Finishing Camp – Results!

Friday night was thankfully just a slow low key night. I wasn’t feeling well because of the antibiotics and I also still had a slight fever. It was just me, Rósa and Guðbjörg that night and we just sat and stitched and talked. It was very nice. Oh, Lára and Sveina turned up late that night but didn’t stay long.

On Saturday I had a lot of guests coming. Me, Rósa, Guðbjörg, Sissú, Lára, Munda, Magnea, Anna Rósa, Aisté, Una, Erla Björk (and maybe I am forgetting someone) were all here at some point of the day and there were seven of us here for dinner. I was feeling lots better than the day before so I did get a lot of finishing done. I did finishing for myself and helped those that needed helping. It was great having all these ladies here sharing the joy of stitching and finishing, all helping each other out and learning from one another.

I am going to share with you pictures of the finishing I did for myself, for Brenda (who sent me the pieces a while ago) and a birthday present that I did for my friend Tracy.

Finishing for myself out of pieces that were stitched by me:

Ornament Side

Ornament Back
I stitched this tree in 2007.
Design by Lynda Baldauf – Scandinavian Stitches.
Stitched on 32ct Silkweaver Solo. Added red jingle bells instead of stitching the hearts that were in the design.

Bourse for Tracy

A bourse for my friend Tracy. I stitched this piece in 2008.
Little House Needleworks – Faith
28ct Gingham Natural/Cream Linen
Crescent Color threads

Stitcher's Roll

Sewing Roll

Needleroll kit from Shepherd’s Bush

Needleroll

Needleroll

Rose Mosaic Needleroll by M-designs
Stitched with recommended threads and embelishments
Fabric is 32ct antique white linen

These are all for me except the bourse, it is for my good friend Tracy who saw the bourse I did for Brenda and fell in love with it and wanted one. So, it is her birthday next weekend so off course she is getting one!

Beads on the bottom

I loved how this bookmark turned out. I thought it needed a little something to it once I had stitched it together, so I added some beads to the bottom of it. I hope Brenda will like it, I know she loves to read almost as much as she loves stitching 🙂

Phew. So that’s it!
I hope everyone learned a lot this weekend and that people are now not afraid of trying new things and just go for it! I am thinking about having one of these weekends again in a couple of months. So if you want to come, you better start saving up! 🙂
I hope you all had a great weekend. I am off to bed!

Also, it is my dad’s 54th birthday today! Happy Birthday daddy! Love you!

Finishing for a friend.

My friend Brenda claims to be finishing challenged (her words, not mine! LOL!) so when I offered her to mail me some pieces and do the finishing for her on them, she jumped at the offer and this week I got an envelope from her with these beautiful pieces stitched by her and two books that she had and wanted to give me (Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and Fool me Once by Fern Michaels).

Stitched by Brenda

Now I am trying to decide what to finish them into. This is what I have in mind at the moment.

The blue tall flower piece – bookmark
Sunflower piece – a pillow
Cottage Garden Piece – a pinkeep
The green/purple piece on top – no clue! LOL! It would look great as a biscornu, but it is a little too big for one and I don’t have the same backing fabric (that could be fixed easily though). But I think it is a tad to big for a biscornu though.

Any ideas? Please share 🙂

I haven’t done much stitching during the week. I have done a little on Flea Market Souvenir and will probably do more stitching on it today and tonight. So I might have an updated picture later in the week.

Productive Sunday with my daughters and mom.

Me and my mom decided last week that we would spend today together and do some crafting with my daughters. Off course I brought something that I wanted to get done and decided to do some actual finishing on some of the things that have been stitched up and then put away. I am very happy about how much I actually got done.

First I finished this pinkeep. I left it at my moms since it is a gift for someone. I am not saying who, just in case that person reads my blog. I am pretty sure that she doesn’t, but I want to be safe.
I stitched this design by Margaret Sherry years ago! Never got around to making it into anything though. So I decided to make a pinkeep out of it and love how it turned out.

Lately I have been thinking about my stitching and how little I actually have of it. I seem to give almost everything I make away. So, I decided that I would start collecting ornaments that I make for myself. Stitched ornaments preferably. When I went through my box of stitched things I found a couple of projects that were just perfect for ornaments so I brought them along and finished them up!

Christmas Tree Ornament

Design by Helga Mandl. Stitched on 36ct Opalescent White Linen with DMC 4045 with a silver heart on top and silver/clear beads as snowflakes. Stitched in 2007.

Christmas Tree Ornament

From 2007 JCS Ornament issue. Design by Charland Designs Inc. Stitched in 2007.

I already have two finished ornaments! YAY! I have this vision of a real tree (I don’t like the fake ones) with lots of stitched and hand finished ornaments on it. One day, that vision is going to come true 🙂

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Fall/Halloween exchange!

Me and my friend Amanda were the only people who signed up in a Halloween exchange in one of my stitching groups. And since Halloween is not celebrated here in Iceland I asked for something with a Fall/Autumn theme and I got to stitch a Halloween themed item for her. I love Halloween patterns and try to find ever excuse there is to stitch them 🙂

Today I got my package from Amanda and it is gorgeous!

Fall exchange from Amanda
She stitched me this beautiful strawberry emery that is just perfect! The stitching and finishing are just amazing! But she didn’t stop there. She also sent me some colored floss rings (awesome!) and a beautiful beaded scissor fob that she made for me! Here is another shot of just the emery. It has tons of beads on it!
Fall exchange from Amanda
Thank you Amanda! I love my goodies!

And here is a picture of what I stitched for Amanda. I made her a pinkeep and a floss ring tag. Sorry about the picture, it is a little blurry. I didn’t download the images until I had already mailed the exchange only to find that the images were not so great :-/

Halloween Exchange for Amanda

The pattern for the pinkeep is a freebie from Cyberstitchers called ‘Halloween’s a sudden boo’ and is designed by Barbara Ana. As you can see I only used a very small portion of the pattern for the pinkeep. I know Amanda collects Halloween houses so I thought this would be perfect for her. The windows and moon and stars are stitched with DMC glow in the dark thread and it is so cool!
The ghost on the floss ring tag is from Halloween Spots by The Trilogy. I also stitched the word ‘Boo’ on the back.

Thanks Amanda for a great exchange!

Pinkeep For Brenda.

Not much going on, but can I say TGIF! I am so happy that the weekend is here. This week just seemed to drag on forever, for no particular reason. I did finish the pinkeep for Brenda that I talked about in my previous post. I couldn’t sleep the night before last, and decided to put my insomnia to good use and finish it up since I only had a couple of stitches left and then the finishing. I am pretty happy with it, and hope Brenda will like it also.

Pinkeep for Brenda

Pattern: Freebie from My Aunt’s Attic
Floss: DMC #124
Fabric: 28ct Quaker Linen ‘Country’ from Zweigart

Other than that, there is not much going on. I am in a bit of a ‘blah’ kind of mood these days, and I am not ever sure why. There is a lot going on, and I have a busy schedule for the next couple of weeks or so (birthdays, celebrations, and going to Copenhagen with my job) but something is just feeling a little ‘off’. Like I said, I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly, I just hope it will go away soon.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I am going to my friends 30th birthday (eeek, I can’t believe we are all turning 30 this year!) tomorrow evening so that should be fun. I even bought a new dress for the party and everything! It is green and very summer-ish!

Good weekend coming to an end.

I wish tomorrow was Friday. LOL! I have had a great weekend with my daughters and I just don’t want it to end. I managed to get a little more work done on their room and put all the toys that were in the living room into their bedroom so now the living room is toy free apart from some books. I will move those into the bedroom when I have the shelfs for them. I have an idea on what kind of shelfs I want, but I haven’t seen them anywhere so maybe I will just have to make them myself. We will see. And I want the books to be accessible to them because kids need books. The more the better if you ask me.

Me and my girls

Today me and the girls went to my friend Rósa and our girls played together. She has two daughters, Þorbjörg Eyja who will be 4 in August, and Sóley Birta who is only 6 days younger than Karítas. Karítas will turn 3 September 14th and Sóley will turn 3 on September 22nd. Sumarrós is great around younger kids so she was put in charge of running around with them while me and Rósa chilled on a blanket in her yard. It was a sunny day and we had a lot of fun.

Kartas and Sumarrós

I took a bunch of pictures and you can see them all here if you want to 🙂 My favorite one is probably this one that Rósa took of me. I am Stephanie from Lazy Town going ghetto! Hahaha! Rósa gave me the Hedgehog pinkeep that she made for me and it is SO tiny and adorable! Thank you Rósa!

Now I am getting ready to do some late night stitching since the girls have gone to bed. I am getting very close on finishing Nature’s Beauty by LHN. I promised myself that I would finish it before starting Miss Mary Mack.
