I was whining in one of my yahoo groups about the cost of eyelet setters here in Iceland (the cheapest one I could find was about $45) and my friend Tracy offered to pick one up from me and mail it my way. I just got back from the PO where I picked up the package. She didn’t stop with the tool itself, but also included 100 extra eyelets and 9 pieces of fabric! Most of them silkweaver solos! They are all so beautiful!
I know what I will be making this weekend, floss ring tags, and anything else that I can use my new cool tool for! Thank you so much Tracy! Love ya girl!
The only thing I have been stitching on lately is my Little House Neighborood. I just love working on it and it is such a joy to stitch. I have made some nice progress too!
Here is a close up of the first house I finished, stitched with Crescent Colors ‘Bramble Bush’.
I really like how it turned out with that floss. I stitched it up and down and really like the effect that makes. Makes the house look more ‘wood’ to me.
And I started the red house. I decided to go with Crescent Colors ‘Wild Berries’ for that one and am very happy with that color as a substitute. I am also stitching this one up and down.
This weekend is the biggest travelling weekend of the year here in Iceland. I on the other hand am not going anywhere and am going to enjoy the nearly empty city with my daughters and do something fun. The weather is supposed to be wonderful so we will probably spend a lot of time outside and hopefully go swimming.

First of all. I got the most wonderful package in the mail yesterday from Paula. She sent me a needleroll pattern from my wish list, Forget Me Not Needle Roll – The Sweetheart Tree, and the recommended fabric for it (32ct China White Royal Crown Linen, gorgeous) and another Needle Roll kit from Silkweavers called ‘Summer Days Needle Roll’ with the fabric, threads, beads and button for it! How generous and sweet! I have e-mailed you Paula, not sure if you got my e-mail or not since I haven’t gotten a reply yet. I am very grateful, you are so sweet!
I have started ‘Miss Mary Mack’ but haven’t gotten a lot done as I have been feeling tired and have been trying to go to bed early-ish lately. I am also working on a pinkeep for my friend Brenda, and some other things that will remain secrets for a little while. But here is a pic of MMM.
I am stitching her on 32ct Belfast in Willow Green with Needlepoint silk, one over one. I love how she is turning out.
Today when I got outside with my daughters, Sumarrós pointed out this cute ladybug that was on the wall just outside our door. Since I had my camera with me (I was going to a school show at Sumarrós’s school later) I took pictures of it. I have only seen a ladybug once before here in Iceland.
I took a bunch of pictures at the school show today. Here are some that are favorites. Images are clickable for a larger view.
The rest of the pictures are here.
I got home about an hour ago from work. Karítas has started Play School (oh time sure passes fast!) and is adjusting very well. She was there from 8.30 this morning until I picked her up at two in the afternoon, I got to leave work 2 hours early. She greeted me with smiles :o) I am so happy that she is doing so well there. Then we went and picked Sumarrós up from school and headed home. When I got home I checked to see if there was any mail and lo and behold! I got a package all the way from Malaysia.
I had admired Aniza’s finish of Elizabeth Designs ‘Dragonfly’ into a scissor pocket and earlier Terri’s finish of the same chart into a biscornu, and really wanted that pattern. Aniza so kindly offered to send me this chart and I was amazed when I opened the package that she had also included a postcard from Malaysia and samples of her overdyed threads! They are beautiful!
Thank you so very much Aniza! I am so thankful!
For my birthday, my friend Ásdís from my Icelandic stitching group Allt í kross gave me a gift certificate to 123stitch.com
I have been thinking about what to get over the last couple of days and this morning I placed my order. Here is what I got:
Curly Q Ewe by Little House Needleworks
Morning Berries by Little House Needleworks
Nature’s Beauty by Little House Needleworks
Forget-me-knots by Indigo Rose
Peek A Boo Pin Cushion by Indigo Rose
Thank you so much Ásdís! I can’t wait to get my goodies!
I have the best friends, and many of them I have never met. One of them is Hannah. She sent me this RAOK package and I am so thankful!
She sent me 3 fat quarters of beautiful fabric, a box of heart shaped pins, 4 packages of pins, a box of assorted Kreinik threads and ribbon in 4 different colors. How did I get so lucky? The pins are very hard to find here and when you find them they are insanely expensive, so getting all of this from Hannah is just amazing. And I really like the heart shaped ones! If there is anything I can do for you, let me know! And that goes for all of you! I love to help a stitcher in need if I possibly can 🙂

I got a wonderful package last week in the mail from Becky. I had been lusting over her wonderful finishes where she uses altoid tins. I have never seen these tins around here, and Becky was such a sweetheart and offered to send me some to try. She sent me four of them! Thanks so much!!(only three are pictured as I gave one away to my friend Rósa who also wants to try this finishing method).
And today I got Matter’s Choise + Silk from KarenV. She was cleaning out her stash and I was very quick to jump at the opertunity to get this chart. I think it is beautiful and can’t wait to stitch it.
I have been busy stitching, but it is for an exchange (the Little Critter’s Exchange at the SBEBB) so I can’t share any pictures yet. I also got to know who I will send out to for the Freebie exchange! How exciting. I haven’t figured out what to stitch yet though. So many choises! And work has been crazy! I started my new position on Friday. Did you all see the new issue of The Gift Of Stitching? Gorgeous!!
Oh my! First of all, a HUGE THANK YOU for my wonderful friend Hannah for sending me such a wonderful package. I didn’t even know it was coming! I am so happy and thankful! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is what I got:
A chocolate aligator that my daughter Sumarrós was quick to snatch from me lol!
Fruit Delights candy – can’t wait to taste these.
A bundle of DMC floss.
A bundle of PJ Coats floss in a beautiful variegated red/pink-ish color.
M Desigsns – Grace Tree Ornament
Just Nan – Snow Bonnets
Just Nan – Snow Faces
And my favorite:
Isn’t it beautiful? I absolutely love it! The finishing is just perfect! It has already been placed on my shelf of stitched things.
This RAOK couldn’t have arrived at a better time. My daughter Karítas is sick and I took her to the doctor today to get her checked out. She has a bad ear infection in one ear and a cold. No fever though. The visit to the doctor took about 2 hours! And then I had to go to the pharmacy and to the grocery store so I wasn’t feeling that bright and cheery when I got home. So last night and today have been spent with a rather unhappy baby in my arms and every mother knows how exhausting that can be. I am staying home with her tomorrow also but will probably go to work on Thursday.
