About Me

My name is Linda Björk Eiríksdóttir. I live in Reykjavík, Iceland with my 2 daughters. Sumarrós is the older one, born in 1999 and Karítas Árný is the younger one, born in 2005. I am born in 1978.

My mother tought me how to cross stitch at a very early age. I did it on and off until I became pregnant with Sumarrós, then the bug bit me hard and I have been cross stitching ever since. You could say that I am addicted and I love it.

In the year 2007 I was fortunate enough to be contacted by Kirsten Edwards, the editor and owner of The Gift Of Stitching Magazine. I wrote an article for the May issue about Icelandic Embroidery and its history and even got featured as a designer when my pattern ‘Icelandic Biscornu’ got published. I got featured as a designer again in the same magazine, the December issue 2007, with my ‘This Is Christmas’ needle roll.

Designing is something that I would like to do more of, but as a single mother of two, I do not have enough hours in the day at the moment. Maybe when my girls are older I can dedicate some time to designing.

Lately I do a lot more of knitting and crocheting than cross stitching.

Linda – Your blog is very interesting and I am amazed at all your beautiful stitching. You certainly are prolific. I would love to win one of your prizes. Your finishing is fantastic, and that is something I need to practice but first I have to stitch and “finish” something. Thanks for sharing! Hugs, June in NB, Canada
