Denver Yarn Storming

I had such a fantastic time in Denver! I had no idea what to expect, as Denver just did not ever cross my mind as a city to visit in the States. Now I can’t wait to go back some day. The people are friendly, the city is beautiful and I had a really great time there!

Flying over Greenland today was magical ❤️Flying over Greenland was breathtaking!

My event took place in Civic Center Park, and we decorated some trees there. It was a great day in the sun and I would like to thank everyone who showed up and added to the installation! Now, pictures speak louder than words, so here are a few for you to see!

Bits & Pieces – November 3rd

This past week was one of the most difficult and draining weeks I have had in a long time. So this weekend has been especially well appreciated. I have done nothing but relax, cook, some laundry and both crochet and knit as much as I that’s my best outlet for stress and leaves me relaxed and content.

My daughter Karítas just became a big sister 3 days ago! Her father and his wife had a little baby girl that is absolutely perfect and Karítas is so proud and grew up over night, as you do when you get this great role of being the older sibling. When she was told that she was expecting a baby sister sometime this summer, she went straight to work. She went through my knitting and crochet books and found this sweater design that she asked me to make for her baby sister.
We went to our LYS and she picked out the yarn and the colours and the button and I went to work on the execution. We both really like how it turned out, and yesterday her father picked her up and she went to spend some time with her sister and gave her the sweater. It is much to big for now, but hopefully I will share pictures of her wearing it once it fits.

#knittothemusic #knitting @raggaknits @westknits congrats!Knit to the Music goodness!

I went to Ragga Eiríks (Knitting Iceland founder) and Stephen West show, Knit to the Music, of knitted goodness, music and photography (by photographer Baldur Kristjáns) at KEX hostel. I met Stephen West (yes, I did get a bit star struck, he is SO nice!) and the show was really interesting and inspiring. There is a book coming and I am definitely putting it on my Christmas Wish List!

Bit’s & Pieces – September 22nd 2013

It’s been a while. Thankfully, the reasons are good. Me, my daughter Sumarrós and my mother visited New York City for 8 wonderful days from September 5th to September 13th. It was my 4th visit to this amazing city, but it was their first time so I took on the role of the guide. We all loved our trip, it was absolutely amazing and much needed after a pretty bad summer in Iceland, weather wise.

I still have to upload all the photos I took to Flickr and when I do, I will post a link to the set here. I just have to take my computer to the repair shop as it decided to stop working after I got home from New York.

Bits & Pieces – May 26th

Are you using flickr to host your images? I have been for years and have always been happy with it, but I am not sure what I think about the newest update and interface. I guess I just have to get used to it.

Selfie in a bus mirror, a la @lilliendahl
Selfie in a bus mirror. My friend has a thing for these pictures and takes them all the time, so when I realized I was sitting right across from a mirror, I decided to steal her idea and take one of myself.

On my way from my bus stop to my office, I cross a space between Hverfisgata and Laugavegur. It is mostly parking lots and backyards for the surrounding houses. And in one corner I find this. I love it. I have a set on flickr for wall decorations that I find awesome and snap pictures of it. You can check it out here.

Bits & Pieces

Once again I have not been updating once a week. Easter came and went and the biological calendar and clock got messed up due to too much chocolate, good food and being way too lazy. I had a good Easter, I hope you did also.

#søstrenegrenes #cotton #yarn such pretty colors!

New #crochet #blanket it is confirmed that I have an obsession.
I have started yet another blanket. Yes, I am fully aware that this is madness, but I like it. This one will be for my little nephew, Adrían. He absolutely loves the blanket I gave to my sister, his mother and takes it away from her all the time. So I decided he definitely needed one of his own.

Bits & Pieces

I completely missed last Sunday’s update. I was sick as a dog on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Still felt a little crappy on Wednesday and Thursday. All better now though.
This has been an easy week, work wise. Sickness and then there is winter break in the girls school so I took some vacation time to stay home with them on Thursday and Friday so I only went to the office on Wednesday. We have been cooking and baking and off course I have been doing loads of crochet.

I went to a music festival last weekend. Well, on Friday I did but I missed Saturday because I woke up so sick that day. I did see Gus-Gus on Friday. I have seen them so many times, but they always, always deliver. It was a great show!

Finished! #blanket #afghan #crochet #þóraheklbók #bugða
I finished he blanket for my daughter Sumarrós! She loves it and so do I!

Trying to pick a neon color to go with the gray one for a blanket.
Off course I started a new blanket right away, this one will be for my bed. Stone gray and bright NEON colors here and there. Very excited about this project.

All wrapped up in her #crochet #blanket I made for her ❤
Wrapping your loved ones in your own creation is some kind of wonderful!

#retro #crochet #blanket is growing
Oh yes, another blanket! This will be a baby blanket though, not a full size afghan.

I did finish the Vintage Crocheted Throw & Afghan last night. No pictures yet as it is in the washer. Pictures to come when it is all dry and ready. It is SO beautiful!

Beautiful Sunday

I am getting so hopeful that spring is coming. Today and yesterday have been amazing, especially today. I just hope that winter is over. I am so sick of it. Today has been bright and warm and so beautiful. Me and Karítas went to the city center and fed the birds on the pond and took a little walk around. It was just perfect.

I have been helping my friend Rósa moving since Wednesday. The apartment that she is moving into was so horribly dirty that we spent the majority of the time cleaning, waxing the floors etc. We had some help with the furniture and all is falling into place now. Yesterday I spent cleaning my own place and I got a new light for my living room that is so pretty. I tried taking pictures of it today but they didn’t turn out that great. I will try again later.

Not much stitching going on since I haven’t spent much time at home lately and when I have been home I have been so tired that I haven’t stitched. I have done a little knitting on my Ebony Cape and then I started a new stitching project.

That’s all for now I think. I am going to relax and stitch tonight. I have another set of smalls to do for an order I got through a friend of my aunts. I will leave you with this cute picture of me and Karítas that I took today. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Reykjavík Arts Festival

May 10-12, the French street theatre group Royal de Luxe puts on a grand spectacle on the streets of Reykjavík. A Little Giant girl – 8 metres high – will strut through the city thoroughfares, bringing a spellbinding fairy tale to the inhabitants. During her stay, the city center is transformed into a giant stage, where the little giant and her giant father engage in a dramatic struggle.

Saturday May 12th

10.30 am
The Little Giant awakens from her slumber on the pier and takes a shower. She enters Ingólfstorg Square, Adalstraeti, Lækjargata and Fríkirkjuvegur, where she runs into the giant, her father, at around 11:30 am. More info here.

You can see the pictures that I took today on my flickr account.
